99% of the time, I dabble in making fine art nude photographs.  One of my favorite traveling models in coming through town in a month or so -- this time, she's traveling with another nude female model.

I'm thinking about asking them to pose together (something they are very interested in doing).  The challenge:  none of us want sexually charged images. While some of my images might invoke a "sensual" feel, that same image might take on sexual connotations when there are two nude models in the image.

So, how does one go about photographing two nude female models?  Post examples, if you've got them.

This sounds like a good problem to have - Sometimes it is best to let them direct you - let them run wild and see what comes form it?

Some people will invariably find them sexually charged no matter what. But, the best advice I can give is to do your best not to think of them as nudes, and just think of them as two models, and pose them ignoring the fact that they're naked.

Not that dificult to do...

You're right... that doesn't look difficult at all smile

I think the advice about letting them direct you is right on point.  You should probably have a concept or two in mind just to get things flowing.

No big deal. If the girls know each other and know exactly what your looking for, then get your lighting right, which you do quite well, and have fun.
Don't be surprised if you have to call time out once in awhile and get your composure back.........let it free flow..
The images on my port of two friends were out of a set of about 400 images...we had a ball.
enjoy.

Maybe back to back, with heads turned toward the camera... armwrestling... each doing something with one of those twirly gymnastics ribbons (that's the technical term you know. ha!) ... both tending to something, like a flower pot or a broken vase... water gun fight... lying on their sides on a long table surrounded by place settings,  one head on each end of the table, meeting at the toes, or overlapping somehow... There's always the old standard pillowfight. lol

Give me another ten minutes and I might come up with some more.

Hey man, if you do one of these do I get a print? lol

One challenge during the editing is the times you like the pose or expression of one model and there is something not quite as successful about the look of the other model -

My avatar and the other in my portfolio are such photos.. though you can't actually see the nudity.  Actually they were just topless. Most of the g/g shoots I have don't haven't been "sexual" as much as sensual.  To me, it's a matter of having an idea, communicating it to the models and executing it.  It's easier with one model to sort of improv and see what comes.. with two I find that it's a little to "noisy" to try to get anything good.

If the models worked together frequently, they know what they are doing. Take the lead from them and adjust as you go along.

2 models, easy because the models frequently worked togther

3 models - very tough, none of the models ever worked together

I did my first shoot with two nude models not so long ago (see my port and deviantart account). It really is a case of forgetting that they are nude.

I find that my photography tends to be a reflection of how I see and set up the scene.

If you are not sexually charged while deciding on poses, angles, lighting, concepts, etc., then your images should reflect your perception. Find the beauty and grace of their forms and how to show your perspective of it.

It's your eye... What do you see? How will you show it?

No biggie. Delete the towels if nude is necessary. I liked this better.

And there was a nude version of this, but again, I like this better. You get the idea.

Something cute and comical will usually set a very different tone.

Pillowfight?

I really think you must be thinking too hard. Most day to day contact with people is casual, simply shoot from that stand point... as another poster posted, ignore the fact that they are nude... you'll be fine.

I try to keep my shoots pretty spontaneous, but I pre-visualized this particular shot:

Easy for you maybe, but then I think you've learned to turn off your sexual charge at will (so as not to overload the mortals in your vicinity)
wink
