I can't see your avatar... I assume it was the first image on your page....

From the rules...
https://www.modelmayhem.com/rules.php

Bondage, bloodwork, and depictions of violence must be marked 18+.

That's probably what it is....

From what I've heard there has been a bit of a mod shortage lately, give your cam thread a little more time and they'll let you know...I think.

I've read the rules i don't feel it at all breaks any of them so is not justifiably 18+ the razor is clearly held aboveskin and not even resting on my wrist it was positioned to catch the light actually and it is not bondage or gore as there are no ropes or blood. Is self harm imagery a depiction of violence?

Yes, if there was an image of a person jumping off a roof, even though they were in mid flight it would still be 18+

Slight sidetrack..  But since it's not in your bio anywhere..  I'm just honestly curious..

What's the interest in self-harming imagery to begin with?

If a person had an image of a gun held to their head, it would probably be 18+ as well.

juliet holds a gun to her head in the modern version of romeo and juliet (clare danes)... isnt this film a 12 certificate? not exactly raging porn only to be seen by adults.

and the jumping off a building thing - didnt we all see that on the news not so long ago?

i just dont see the logic. there is no harm being done just the suggestion of self harm.

also its just a quirk of human existence this need to inflict pain on both others and oneself and i'm interested in all things quirky - plus that kind of image will sell.

I hate when ppl ask for opinions on their avatar.. and pictures and all of the "look at me look at me"

Honestly,  I don't like it.

I hate how everyone, their mother, and their mother's dog poo thinks they are a model

Here's the thing though. You are not dealing with the mpaa. You are not dealing with Government regs. You are dealing with MM Moderators, and as I stated before, you will probably get an answer to your CAM post but don't be suprised if it takes a while.

Tyler said that violence is not acceptable. Implied violence may be a judgment call and someone with more conservative judgment saw your avatar and tagged it 18+. Personally, I don't see why it's worth battling over. I think it's silly to not allow nipples to be shown on the avatars, but dems de rules and that's the way it goes. It's a free site.

i hate how you hi-jack my post and imply that you're rather something when your avatar looks freaking ugly and thats a look at me if i ever heard one. so you clearly hate yourself by your own twisted troll like logic.

Film ratings and news do not matter on MM.
MM is a privatly owned site and the rules state voilent matter and nudity must be marked 18+

We know you are very proud of your little "look at me" image so you got people to look at you...How nice, and someone probably reported you to the Mods for breaking MM's rules..

It looke like the Mods have had a re org lately so they are short on help so be paitent.

i was patient and i talked to them and its all been sorted because theyre pretty efficient. its just i dont understand the logic so you know its clearly a personal opinion rather then a clearly defined rule. thats what this thread was about to discuss the grey area. we all know this is a cheertatorship not a cheerocracy anyway.

any yeah i'm vain and my whole purpose in life is to get you to look at me *yawn* its obviously working though so i ought to shut up and let you look now.

You should never ask for an opinion, because someone will give it to you straight out.

What is your opinion? ... you just seemed to rant non descript about something that i didnt ask to hear - i.e how the world and her husband thinks they can model implying that i can't.

Whatever, but the point was "Is the impression of self harm a depiction of violence?"

Do you want to express a view on that or something completely unrelated?

This issue was resolved by some interesting thoughts from other members anyway (thank you interesting people - muchly appreciated) so please do spout freely and wanly your fashionista views on being an elaborate clotheshorse as you clearly have years of expertise at just that and a wealth of knowledge that i as a fat limey hippy will never have wink

I fogot to mention short - fat, short, limey and a hippy who doesnt shave. Whatever next in your beautiful tidy little world. i feel such a hostile alien right now that i might fetch some tea.

*bangs head*

Mods are PEOPLE The rules state what is allowed and what is not, of course the rest is subjective...PEOPLE are subjective, if you ask each mod what constitutes a violent image you will get each mod telling you a slightly diffrent answer...Some mods are more liberal some are more conservative...

Many of these desisions get bounced back and forth behind the scenes to try and keep all the rules defined, but that is not how life/art works...because life is subjective...

please don't bang your head it might get damaged and its way too pretty. smile

i understand that mods are people and that a rule is not up for discussion as you know they enforce what they see as right/wrong or within/outside of said rules.

i just maybe disagree... i can express my disagreememnt whilst still obliging to the request that i change the image (which i've done)

I like that image and i love your port.

But i think that image falls closer to 18+ than pg13.

Just out of curiosity (and I am really curious), why do you want that image as your avatar (beside the fact that they're telling you you can't)?

You have some lovely nudes by the way.

I'm going to be a turncoat now... I think it's more like implied nudity....

But surely you have a better image for an avatar....

Because its my favourite picture of me. I actually get paid to model/act like a loon/self harmer/drug addict/child in need of fostering or you know whatever. Its what pays bills for me. That and taking my clothes off for 'art' (substitute art for money unless its tfp then art really is art).

That picture even resembles me and is recent. And was shot by a female photographer who i really respect and get on well with.

Who would pay me to shoot fashion? Bland headshots? Come on! I'm just not that sort of a model am i. SO if i'm not a useable fashion model why would i display a fashion image - you know?

And i could have it as my avi, and i did for a while then i logged on today and it was covered with a a big red 18+ thingy :'(
