I think that's actually right. 

But you can check out some of the online clothing sites.  Most of them have pretty explicit instructions on how to do measurements since they want things to fit their customers.

Thats how I did mine. I have done enough squats and lunges to put an ass in these jeans, I want to know what they measure!

I saw some guys were close to mine (37-40) and some were 32/33. I guess they measured wrong.
