The imagination does things no photo can rival, I like a little mystery. ;-)

It really depends what you are trying to achieve - An image with cleavage  or implied will usually be much more sensual than a topless shot -

Most large breast look better supported, so in those cases I vote cleavage.. but shapely breast with proportioned aureola and nipple are aesthetically pleasing..  I know, when you look at it technically doesnt sound as sexy.. LOL

Show me both the cleavage and topless shots of the same model in the same lighting setup and I'll give you my answer.

Speak for yourself.

Technical descriptions just make me envision some nerdy (yet, scalding hot) doctor giving me a textbook description of her body...

cleavage  is sexy, topless can be but is not always.  So what is the message you are creating?

Honestly, I think cleavage looks better. Topless seems to be a bit too prevalent in many of the ports here. While I realize that there are many who like to shoot fine art and such, these aren't the images that are going to help a model get that big contract or a great agent, unless the shot is being submitted to Playboy or is being shot for it. Not to mention it keeps the mystery so to speak. So I prefer cleavage shots.

If you factor in a great pair of legs, with the topless or the cleavage, you'll get the most out of one shot.   But what do I know?

Depends on the shot - what would make it better - depends on the model, some look better topless, other with only cleavage!  Your job as the photographer is to present the model in the best way possible!!  Do what works!

I vote for topless. In rock, paper, scissors, nippies beat cleavage.

Depends on the shot. Topless implied would be best, I think. But I'd choose cleavage other than just hanging out there...

Too much topless implied gets seriously tiresome.  I'd say if a model doesn't want to do topless she should stick to cleavage with clothes.
Otherwise it's just ridiculous looking.

I think mystery is better - I know that I (even being over 40) have had the opportunity to do topless, but feel it probably wouldn't be something I would be comfortable doing.

I'm glad that all the phototogs I've worked with have been understanding of my standing and that speaks volumes for their professionalizm.

Then again, someone has to do the topless shots huh?

I have no opinion.

I just wanted to say topless is only spelled with one 'p'.

Since my cleavage is barely there and I don't have pepperoni nipples to cover up.. I'll say topless...
