My talent for art was discovered when I was about thirteen years old during an assignment in art class. I rediscovered my love of art in college while working in the Art Department as an artist's model. The sights and sounds drew me in, enchanted me.

I have shifted my focus for the time being from illustration, preferring instead to paint images of people in simple poses conveying complex emotions. I like to see how much I can communicate through a simple shift in the eyes, or a turn of the lip, or a subtle gesture of the hand. I believe that rendering my human forms this way, with uncluttered grace and beauty, reveals the shapes of the souls within them.

Above everything, like my betters who came before me, I strive to locate the wellspring hidden in every desert. Every painting I complete reveals something about myself I hadn't considered before, and helps me see my subject in a new and ever-expanding awareness.

That is - and should always be - what good art is all about.

As for my membership with Model Mayhem: I am looking for inspiring, emotional photography that will help me build my portfolio of work exploring the human form. Although I typically paint female nudes, I am also driven to master the art of human portraiture.
