About Me

I have been an amateur photographer since 1981 where I was working with 35mm black and white film and a dark room to create interesting effects.  I still consider the best way to achieve effects to be manipulation of the environment, and will work with lighting, reflections, and position rather than digital tools whenever possible.  Not that I'm anti-digital -- I was an early adopter of digital camera technologies -- but I prefer to find the image in the space rather than the computer.

I have been using a simple Kodak Point-and-shoot with supplemental lenses for lightweight shoots and a DSLR Canon with a more robust lens group for recent richer photo work.  I see the need to have a camera that fits in my pocket as well as something a bit more dense when I need more detail and am in a much more planned shoot.

Most of my work has been as an event or landscape photographer, with tight and macro work for emphasis on elements of the frame, but I am beginning to work with models for the first time in a while.  I've had some success in the past working with people, and I hope to find those willing to work with me as I relearn the best lighting techniques, compositions, and framing to create quality images.  Shoots these days will mostly be on location, as I want to keep up the skills I know best as I expand repitoire and ability by adding new focal points to the work.

I love textures, lighting, and unusual components of a scene. I have taken very close images, and those of a model a hundred yards away, if it worked to put a good image together.  I've not picked specific model genres (costumes, hand/foot, nudes, swimsuit, school/prom, wedding, fetish, etc) because I have either not found my niche, or because I don't want to limit my options yet.  Either way, it means more opportunities both for myself and for models wanting to gain experience.

My sample photos were selected to show my skills incorporating people into a scene, rather than as the principle component of a shot.  I want to learn better framing to draw attention to the people in the scene.  I'm hoping to find models that want to help me recover and expand these skills, and are willing to do so TFP or TFCD.  I'm also looking for photographers that don't mind a 'tag-along', as osmosis mentoring is a good way to pick up new tricks and talents, too.

Best means to reach me is either via this site, or through my gmail account.  I tend to check email and such in the evenings, so getting me on short notice is not likely (though it occasionally happens).  I don't 'friend' people unless I know them or have worked with them, or at least think I do/have.  My memory is iffy, these days.
