Tyla Smith received her degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from the Art Institute of Seattle. She has excelled in the Visual Arts Industry for over twenty years. As a model she was fascinated by the world of beauty and fashion and became highly skilled in all aspects of the industry including; makeup artistry, hair, styling, and more.  She continued to advance her technical skills in makeup artistry with specialized classes in Seattle and New York. Tyla has worked and taught Special Effects Makeup Artistry in Chicago and Miami. Her work in Beauty, Bridal, Fashion, and Special Effects has appeared in print, television, film, and on the runway.

To satisfy her desire to be fully versed in all aspects of the industry Tyla set her sights on photography and studied the craft thoroughly.  After several years in the industry the opportunity presented itself in a serendipitous way.  An important fashion shoot was scheduled and the photographer failed to show, so Tyla jumped into action and did the shoot.  The client was thrilled with the results.  Tyla fell in love with photography and hasn't stopped since!! She has worked in NY, LA, and Miami and abroad in South America and Europe. Her work has appeared in international publications and on billboards around the world.

Tyla’s repertoire includes fashion, commercial and editorial photography.  She has provided excellent work for clients including; head shots, test shots, comp cards, and portraiture work.  Her clients include actors, musicians, dancers, models, artists, and other professionals. She enjoys creative and imaginative work and loves to collaborate with others! She is a unique photographer that shoots with minimal equipment, utilizing natural and studio lighting. She prefers to retouch only as necessary so as not to distort an image but rather to enhance it. She enjoys shooting in unusual locations and from interesting angles that result in unique and extraordinary work.
