About Me

Los Angeles based photographer working on studio photography, portrait and headshots mainly. I am hoping to expand my portfolio into more editorial, glamour and beauty (including swimsuit and lingerie).

Shooting most weekdays.

I am always looking to find newer models who are looking to develop or expand their portfolios. I love working with newer models as well as anyone who wants to use modeling as a way to let loose and really express who they are.

I love this quote from Ira Glass:

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

Working hard to close the gap. Always looking to work with others who are trying to do the same.

Style: Working from the Japanese aesthetic of cuteness or "kawaii" to capture fun, light, flirty, colorful and playful images. I want my images to have a crisp and sharp feel while still conveying a softness from the models I shoot. I am always looking to refine my vision and come up with something that is unique and a signature style.

Images: I do my best to turn around a set of images in 48-72 hours from our shoot when shooting TF. Often I will go back and re-evaluate later and pull out a shot or two.

Models: Pretty much all the credit goes to the model. I am just a guy setting the lights up and pushing the button. My goal is to try to find something in that process that is truthful. When I shoot a model, I want to really see her, a glimpse into who she is. That is a hard thing to capture and sometimes even harder to communicate.
