About Me

Hi, I'm Saën (pronounced like "science" but without the "ce")

I'm a dual national (Aussie & Belgian) photographer/cinematographer that just moved back to Brisbane after living in Europe for 5 years. Trying to build a bit of an Australian based network to work with on a regular basis.

I've been working as a photographer and cinematographer for about 5 years now.
I started out in landscape and theatre until I made a shift to portraiture, fashion and editorial about 3 years ago.

Right now I'm looking to really hone my skills in more conceptual/editorial portraiture.
I also love to incorporate colour and even some graphic design into my work.

How I shoot:
Before we really get into the photographing, I like to take the time to get to know a bit about the model. This allows me to understand how to approach and direct them. This isn't a requirement but it sure helps break the ice if the model isn't a seasoned professional.
One of the things I love about photography is you get to connect with people and create something that is the result of both parties' efforts.
For a casual portrait session I prefer to let things flow naturally, that way an idea can grow organically and those are the shots I love best. But I always have a moodboard on hand to help things along if needed.

S K I N is one of my ongoing projects on skin textures, body shapes, and features that are unique to a person.
You can check out the moodboard for the project here:
I'm always on the lookout for people who want to be a part of this series, so hit me up if this sounds something you want to be a part of.

Besides that, I'm always up for doing casual shoots based on my general moodboard:
