Is there a way to tether to an ipad?

If only the new iPad had three times the resolution of the old one, then it would be a good match for the new D800.

where is this new tethering feature that everyone is talking about. I don't see anything about it. Honestly, this iPad is rather disappointing to me

You can also tether wireless with the eye -fi SD card another option: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0LbOWbi … re=related

I think what's missed in all of this is Apple is still selling the iPad 2, now starting at $399. Just yesterday, the iPad 2 was the best tablet on the market (I'm sure some will argue that fact, but whatever), and now it's one of the cheaper 10" tablets on the market outside of no name Chinese brands.

I love the hell out of my ipad1, don't see a need for anything else. I don't even use my Mac Book Pro on the Internet anymore, just this!!

Sorry .. but Photoshop (the full version) does not run on any version of the iPad, let alone iPad3. Can't wait for this to happen, though. The big issue: when?

If you need the full version of Photoshop to run, what you want is a Macbook Air. It's almost as small as an iPad and will run Photoshop just fine. The iPad is more like a super convenient digital portfolio, browser, email client, and portable contract generator, with a few other 'toys' to keep you occupied during a flight or while waiting for a client to show up, or downtime. That's how I use it, anyway. It's enough most of the time, but no it's not a 'full fledged' (desktop replacement) computer.

Too bad it doesn't come with 48MP camera that takes your E mount or F-mount glasses.

Now my Ipad 2 has not been used for a month, yet I use the Playbook daily. I prefer it to the Ipad, so after carrying both for 4 months, the Playbook is the winner for me.

I cannot imagine doing any serious editing on an Ipad. I sometimes edit on my laptop, but only if I really have to or I am very bored when I am travelling. MY results are better and faster on the desktop.

When updating to 4.x it became quite slow and finicky. Things like delays when entering key strokes etc. Yet no way to easily go back. Yes I know you can save out IPSW from TinyUmbrella but I run a clean phone, never jail broken etc. Although Apple have adapted much Open Source, they are nor open to retro grading in case of their errors.

Does it have enough processing power, RAM, Graphic Card, etc... to make this suitable for photoshop even if you can edit on it? I think I could put $500 into a machine that would be much better suited to editing images. I spent just over $1,000 building a computer that would have cost me at least $5,000 if it were an Apple product.

They have not come up with a game changer, unless you are an apple only person. They have come up with an update. The iPad was a game changer. This is an update to a good product. I would watch for the next wave of Android tablets to get really good. I switched to an Android phone and would never go have an iPhone now. I think you've been drinking Android Cool aid..=*^) You should perhaps read this article from Tech.pinions: A couple of excerpts: Every Android smartphone owner who goes gaga over their somewhat high resolution screen should thank Apple. The Retina display kicked off the trend of higher resolution phone displays. Once consumers saw, and are still captivated by that screen, it became very hard for a device to be successful at the mid to high end without a high resolution screen. The same will now be true of tablets. There will now be a resolution race to catch up with Apple’s Retina display on the new iPad. Which you absolutely have to see to believe. There has never been such a high resolution display on a mobile device and seeing such clarity and image quality on a bigger screen changes the experience with the device in a way I never imagined." and Apple on the other hand, has what I now consider an insurmountable lead with iPad apps and it will be at least two years, if not longer for other ecosystems to even get close. Even if they did Apple won’t stand still and two years from now their software ecosystem will be even bigger and stronger. The iPhoto demo alone on the iPad was one of the best software demonstrations I have seen in some time and perhaps the best example of the value of touch computing to date. And by the way its $4.99. If nothing else Apple proved that with software the possibilities are endless with this new category of computing. And hopefully now it is clear to the masses that the iPad is a personal computer and not just for consumption. (Teaser: more on that in my column tomorrow ) So how do others compete? Honestly, at this point in time I am not sure. Apple’s vertically oriented strategy gives them such an advantage that makes competing with them, especially in tablets, extremely difficult. I just saw this: Verizon including mobile hotspot in iPad data plans at no additional charge “As expected, Apple’s new iPad 3rd generation tablet is available with sweet and speedy 4G LTE from Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Tim Cook also announced that customers will be able to use the tablet as a mobile hotspot as well — that’s even better,” K. T. Bradford reports for Gotta Be Mobile. “Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney [told me]: The tablet data plans include the mobile hotspot just as they do today,” Bradford reports. “Data plans begin at 2GB for $30 and go to 10 GB for $80 and includes the mobile hot spot. The iPads have one additional option of 1GB for $20.” Jordan Kahn reports for 9to5Mac, “Verizon Spokeman Albert Aydin told us: ‘The new iPad on the Verizon Wireless network will have the mobile hotspot feature. Our 4G LTE tablets have the mobile hotspot feature and it is included in the tablet data plans so for example, customers who sign up for the $30 for 2GB plan will also have access to the mobile hotspot feature.’” http://macdailynews.com/2012/03/08/veri … al-charge/ Christer http://www.ChristerRosewellPhotography.com http://www.ChristerArt.com

I honestly dont see a reason to upgrade unless: You *need* the screen resolution, i.e. photographers, or you need an ipad that does not have 3g/4g, I still have my wifi ipad first gen. I really was planning on getting the three. But after reading it, yeah its an improvement, but nothing that would warrant spending $500 when I already have a working one.

More here: http://techpinions.com/the-new-ipad-lea … ehind/5861 Christer http://www.ChristerRosewellPhotography.com http://www.ChristerArt.com To me, Apple has raised the bar high with the new iPad and the demo of iPhoto yesterday was great. Today I heard some friend and co-worker complaining about it, saying they are dissappointed. Probably cause they already own an iPad 2 or 1 and malbe they were expected a new case design and thinner or whatever other reason. Well if you own iPad 2 or 1 and fit for your needs then fine. But once they see the new one on Mac stores, they will probably change their mind... Btw, I'm not against any other brands (buy whatever you want folks) but to me, the others brands are just cloned, they don't invented or revolutionized anything, they just copied the ideas. As a matter of fact, most people will always remember the original owner not the clone version which sells a bit cheaper. I'm also not sure what the others competitors will do, but Samsung will cut&paste the Retina screen ideas, make it a bit better, different size of course. As far as I can see, Playbook, Sony, etc. will die soon, their price will drop down...

I haven't seen any Apple app that doesn't have an equivalent Android app. True, there are some specific, big name apps that are Apple only (I'm glaring at you, Instagram) but there are Android apps that do all the same stuff. And, since there's less of a barrier to entry, there is more experimentation going on in Android apps. It may not be the same as the average consumer's perspective, but from my perspective, Android has the superior app ecosystem.
