Orschel-Read

Orschel-Read is an outstanding menswear label that has the most highly anticipated collections in London each season.

Creative Director Stefán Orschel-Read was born in India and grew up in Scotland. He was a gold medal winning dressage rider for Great Britain and studied law prior to pursuing a career in fashion. Stefán graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s in 2008 with an honours degree in Menswear Fashion. His graduate collection ‘Mourning for Orlando’ was an avant-garde menswear line inspired by Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando. Stefán went on to study for a Masters at the Royal College of Art and launched his eponymous label ‘Orschel-Read’ in 2008; he has been a NewGen Men finalist three times.

Each season he has presented exceptional collections including his debut Ready-To-Wear collection “CXII” for SS 2010, at London Fashion Week 2009, alongside the Couture collection “DXII”; the AW2010 R-T-W collection “Fågeln”; his SS2011 third menswear R-T-W collection “The Spy Who Becomes Me”; followed by AW2011/12 "Memories of a Lost Wilderness"; then the SS13 Bespoke collection “Edges of The World”.

The AW2012 collection "Lord Paget: The Fascination" explores a privileged Peter Pan libertine living in the aristocratic English countryside. Strictly sartorial, the collection uses primarily British tailoring wools, tartans, hand-woven tweeds and raw unbleached silks; in forest green, ecru, lovat green, navy and royal purple. Key pieces include panelled and pleated slim-cut suit jackets, heavily pleated formal trousers, trench coats, covert coats and high collar formal shirts.

Orschel-Read's seventh collection for SS2013 "Lord Paget: Mariposa" continued the story of the previous season, seeing the muse spending time working in Cuba in the 1970s, where he spends time with the jazz musicians Bueno Vista Social Club. He also experiences the corrupt wealthy underworld of Cuba. Key pieces include log-cabin-pattern panelled suit jackets, lightweight linens, silk brocade tail-coats, statement casual coats and the reinterpretation of the concept of 'The Show Piece'where pleats grow into lapels and conceal hidden pockets. The collection was shown in June 2012 in Italy and On-Schedule at London Collections Men.

Orschel-Read is a favourite with international press who clamour to feature his collections in magazines worldwide each season.

The Orschel-Read collections are all designed and produced in-house in London.
