About Me

If you are serious about working with us please read all of this!
Hello Model Mayhem,

First of all I thank you for taking the time to look at my Model Mayhem Portfolio.

My name is Brian, and I have joined Model Mayhem to expand my knowledge of portrait, glamour, and fashion photography, by collaborating with others that share similar goals of creating stunning images.
A brief look at my past, I have always been very involved in photography. From a very early age when my grandfather would take me out shooting with his range finder and twin-reflex cameras. To when I was in my mid-teens I bought my first SLR's: a Pentax K1000 then a Nikon FM with money earned from mowing yards and washing windows. I frequently worked at camera stores and photo labs as a older teenager and young man. These jobs where very useful in helping to learn more about photography and the processing of my own work and cover expenses to support my love of photography. I took a break from photography in the late 90's to early 2012 due mainly to the fact I would not except the fact that modern gear and programs was not the death of photography. So in 2012 I traded my horse and buggy in on a car, my film cameras in on digital cameras, my dark room in for Photoshop and Lightroom.
As you can see from the above paragraph I have been active in photography for decades, and in the past few years have decided to make it more of a full time occupation. Not only because I have a passion for creating and making stunning images. But Because I choose a career that over the past 30 years have taken its toll on my body, and the time has come for me to move on. What better career to change too than one you have always loved!
Please take a look at my Portfolio to see if my style of work is something you think would suit your wishes. I will try to return quality Comment or tags. I am looking forward to working with Model Mayhem members in the near future, in addition to the many models I have worked with before joining MM. Thanks in advance!

The parts of this industry I don't like to deal with but we have too for obvious reasons unfortunately.

  How I like to work:

                                                              Flakes
Please take your shoot at least fifty percent as serious as we will and then will be fine!
Ok I like Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes just as much as the next guy, but model flakes I can't stand! In my short time on Model Mayhem I have found the flake rate to be close to 70%. I have heard every conceivable excuse. If you are not serious about your work please go else where for your photography.
We understand that life can through things in our path of what we are trying to achieve and are sympathetic to them, but please have the respect to give a 100% effort to show up to shoots you helped plan. Photographers have lives too!
If you think there is a chance that you may need to reschedule or cancel, contact us as soon as possible trying not to leave it to the hours before the shoot. We would prefer at least a full days notice, and if you show that respect it is more than likely that your excuse is a legit one and we would still be open to working with you in the future.

                                                  Good communication is key
If you do not believe good communication is key to a good working relationship feel free to stop reading this and move on to the next photographer.
If I send you a friend request or accept a friend request from you that means I have worked with you in the past or would like to work with you in the future. I'm not looking to win a contest for most friends.
If you would like to contact me about a project or idea you have in mind please feel free to message me here on Model Mayhem.
Once we have agreed to work together I will give you contact information to better stay in contact and request that you do the same for me.
The first time we work together I require that any shoot is finalized via phone consultation or a consultation in person is preferred. The later can take place in a public place of your choosing. We understand the later may not always be possible especially for talent or clients not in our area until the day of the shoot. In these cases Phone consultation would be our best option.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but this is for both the models and the photographers sake. It shows a since of being serious about our prospective work together. Gives us both a chance to meet, and become more comfortable with each other. Discuss more in depth or shoot concepts. Gives me the opportunity to see that the picture in your portfolio were not misleading.
Timely responses are very important and the closer to the shoot day it becomes are even more important so please respond to correspondence as soon as possible.
Reliability is very important, We understand that things happen in life beyond our control and are very understanding in those cases. If you are not serious about doing a shoot with us, and are not prepared to do everything in your power to make sure that you arrive on time and ready to shoot please don't waist both our time setting one up.

                                                  Compensation and TFP/TFCD
Before you think about asking for compensation from us please look at our portfolio and then look at your own.
If I contact you for an assignment I have been commissioned to shoot you will be paid. If I am not being paid for the shoot then you will not be paid. Unless we discuss other wise.
If you contact me for an assignment you have been commissioned to do and you need my services as a photographer then I will be paid. If you are not being paid for the shoot then I will not be paid. Unless we discuss other wise.
If you would like to use me for a paid shoot please message me here at MM and I will contact you back with my contact information. Please include the concept of your shoot, time, and place when you message me.
I am open and welling to do TFP/TFCD, if this is what you are looking for it would have to be useful to both parties. For me it might be trying different lighting ideas, we may just want to work on both our posing skills, or a mock shoot at a location for a bigger production. Or you just have a look and or a concept I just love.
Portfolio work I am available to help you build your images up for your portfolio. Please message me to discuss ideas and rates.
Physical compensation: you will receive at least 5 edited images to use how you see fit, with the exception of selling them. This number is not set in stone it depends on the amount of time we shoot and the amount of good looks we get. 5 is the least you should expect.

                                                      Escorts and Releases
I am not only OK with escorts but prefer them to be there, It protects both parties. One party it protects from being wronged and the other it protects from being wrongly accused of something. Having said that escort are not required to do a shoot unless you are 18 or younger. If you do bring a escort it is your job to make sure they do not influence our shoot in a negative way. So think before you bring a husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, or father/mother.
I try not to shoot with minors but if I do it is mandatory that a mother/father/guardian escort the minor and give written permission for me to photograph there child. A release form is also required for all minors. I may ask for a photo id to verify your age.
Models that are very young looking may be asked to bring there identification and a copy of it before we start shooting. This is to protect both parties as well.
Release forms, I do not currently require all models sign one but may be changing that in the near future. With the obvious exception being minors.
