Hi,

Just had my profile accepted this morning so thought I'd just post an initial hello.

Although I've only just joined, I've been a bit of a lurker of the forums for a while so hopefully I won't make too many newbie mistakes! (probably just jinxed myself by saying that though).

I do have a quick first question for anyone to answer. (I did do a quick forum search first and didn't see any similar questions, which suprises me so I think I might have made a mistake!)

How far, on average, do you travel for TF shoots? do you prefer to meet half way if over a certain distance? I know this will depend on the area you live in and other varibles but I'm interested in getting a general figure. I only ask as my car is off the road at the moment and I'm worried how much of a limit this would be for me.

Phillip.

Hello and Welcome to MM. smile

Well, I use public transport, so am limited similar to yourself.

However, it would really depend on the shoot, as to how far I would travel.

For example, generally, I would say up to 30 miles, about an hour by bus.

Unless it is really going to add something different, or the model is a professional, experienced, specialises in a genre I don't have covered.

In this case, I would travel much further.

Hope this helps and good luck to you! smile

For me a shoot is as much about the location as it is the model. The location needs to fit both the shoot's intended mood as well as inspire. There are some fantastic shoot locations dotted around the country so travelling is pretty much inevitable.

However I wouldn't travel any distance to shoot in a model's home nor would I travel to shoot in a typical commercial studio.

You're stuck on the south coast which means either you or the model are going to have to travel anyway - assuming you're looking for some diversity in the models you work with.

Thank you, I really appreciate the perspective.
