Ladies! Three things that make the photographer
What are the three (or four) main things that you look for in a good photographer? Let's keep it positive, here--no rants or flaming, please! Help us help you. Jul 29 06 11:43 am Link well clearly said photographer should be looking to "test" and not use TFP Jul 29 06 12:01 pm Link KM von Seidl wrote: Thanks, lady, for sharing the three things you look for in a good photographer! Jul 29 06 12:04 pm Link 1. Skill with their instrument of choice. 2. An art aesthetic. 3. The willingness to work with me. Wa-la. Jul 29 06 12:05 pm Link Shyly wrote: That's a good start! Jul 29 06 01:07 pm Link This thread is clearly gender biased. Jul 29 06 01:10 pm Link Aaron S wrote: Brilliant! Jul 29 06 01:12 pm Link Aaron S wrote: What do you expect? We all know that only female models are qualified to analyse a good photographer. Jul 29 06 01:18 pm Link already slipping OFF TASK...stay focused....lol Jul 29 06 01:20 pm Link CLT wrote: 'Tis true. Neither male models nor female photographers exist. Jul 29 06 01:21 pm Link CLT wrote: Thanks, ladies, for your three items! Jul 29 06 01:21 pm Link 1. The photographer should be imaginative and creative. 2. The photographer should seek to understand their subject/model. 3. The photographer must love the art of it. And most important which I will not "list" is a photographer with a great sense of humor. Jul 29 06 01:23 pm Link 1. The photographer should view me as a collaborator. I enjoy taking direction, but don't be so locked into the ONE frame you had in mind that you won't play around with others as I move. 2. The photographer should be willing to discuss ideas with me. I can't tell you how many times a shot could have been better if the photographer had told me his idea in even more detail before the shot, so i could have brought more materials to make it work. 3. The photographer should be someone I can trust. This includes all issues, being up front about any intentions regarding nude shots, honesty about studio settings(I had one GWC whose studio was in his basement with LOADS of nude barbies-he paid well, but i REFUSE to do it again! Wish i'd known THAT before i agreed to shoot...) Many of the photographers I've worked with have become my friends, and I'm happy to shoot with them multiple times BECAUSE of these reasons. My two cents... Jul 29 06 01:30 pm Link Mimi Brown: Somehow, your post shifted my focus on YOU instead of the photographer! Jul 29 06 01:43 pm Link Zorina Seva wrote: Excellent! Much appreciated. Jul 29 06 02:48 pm Link KM von Seidl wrote: Please go elsewhere to rant and carp; it only reflects poorly on you. Jul 29 06 02:50 pm Link Aaron S wrote: LOL. And you are fascinated by the heavens as well. I'm impressed. (not that I expect you to drop a gonad over it!) Jul 29 06 02:52 pm Link KM von Seidl wrote: I haven't quite figured out what to refer to female photographers as yet. Jul 29 06 02:57 pm Link Aaron S wrote: Yea, Ladies is way too PC for me. KM von Seidl wrote: Aaron and KM: Jul 29 06 02:57 pm Link I'm sorry, but this thread was never, nor was it going to be constructive. Going to a frat party and going "Hey Ladies, let me see your boooobies" would be more constructive. Jul 29 06 03:02 pm Link Aaron S wrote: haha! My kind. Skilled with a camera 3. Skilled with photoshop Jul 29 06 03:35 pm Link Adrienne Aurora wrote: Thank you! It is nice to get some constructive, intelligent input, for a change! Jul 29 06 04:12 pm Link 1. An instant ease and comfort level with the photographer is important. 2. The ability to give direction if I am posing incorrectly and/or give direction to help me since I can't see myself during the shoot. 3. A photographer that is willing to listen to my ideas as well. A collaboration of sorts. Jul 29 06 04:30 pm Link I'm not a girl but I'm gonna answer anyway. So there. IMO, the three things that a photographer SHOULD have... 1. a sense of light (you'd be surprised how many photographers don't have that sense) 2. their own sense of aesthetic even if its not really my thing (aka the "eye") 3. to be always willing to learn new things (you'd be astounded how many people ask for critiques then get all defensive when they don't like what you have to say) Jul 29 06 05:10 pm Link Aaron S wrote: Let me be the first... Jul 29 06 05:12 pm Link Farenell Photography wrote: Folks like you, and the juvenile you quote, make it very hard to accomplish anything constructive here. You and Aaron both need to grow up. Jul 29 06 06:03 pm Link TiffanyB wrote: Thanks, Tiffany, for your input. Perhaps something useful will come out of this thread in spite of the destructive efforts of others. I hope to come up with some sort of pattern that will help me and other mature photographers. I suppose we just have to endure the immature juveniles on MM who just want to wreck things. Jul 29 06 06:08 pm Link Haven't seen any models suggesting dexterity with a comb for touch posing........whuh Jul 29 06 06:25 pm Link Farenell Photography wrote: You should give it a try sometime. It's how I got to shoot Kate Moss. Jul 29 06 06:36 pm Link Aaron S wrote: You continue to distinguish yourself with your unruly childish antics. I would say, "grow up" again, but you, Farenell, and Corbett are decades away from that. Please go make life miserable for people somewhere else. Jul 29 06 07:41 pm Link 1. Genres I'm interested in (fine art and fashion) 2. Talent with all technical aspects 3. Creativity Jul 29 06 07:46 pm Link I'd show you all my boobies, but my boobies are already pretty much public property at this point.
