About Me

I’m here for the art and to make a living, which includes the journey of learning and creating.

I've joined forces with the model Irie Jo (MM# 4442275) to form IrieJo Studios (https://www.iriejostudios.com/).

If you’re looking for someone who enjoys helping others further their creative goals through photography, then I may be that guy.

If you visit my flickr page (link above), you’ll see I take many types of photographs and enjoy all types of photography that don’t require me to lie on the ground :-), just too old for that.  There are just under 18,000 (yes, thousands) images on my flickr page, so I have been behind the camera a bit.  When doing photography as a living it was behind the camera and in the darkroom, so I’ve had the luxury of the full workflow with both film and digital.

I find the female form Challenging, Difficult, Frustrating, and Annoying at times. At the same time the most beautiful creation period!  For me, there is nothing more rewarding than walking away from a shoot where everyone enjoyed themselves and the resulting images are those a model would be proud to include in their portfolio.  My current focus is on the female form.  I’m working with high contrast, silhouette, and glamour and portrait lighting.  I specialize in bodyscapes, art nude, and boudoir.

Headshots are a favorite of mine and I always try to work them into a shoot.  When planning a shoot, you can expect the flow to start with the purpose of the shoot and end with headshots.  I try to accomplish two things within my shoots: The first is to capture images meeting the goal or purpose of the shoot.  The second is to try something new, different, etc., with the only expectation of learning something for a future shoot - time allowing.  As an example, a recent shoot, when we were finished, we were going to take a couple of pictures next to a motorcycle or two.  As it turned out, circumstances didn’t allow that to happen, but the point was to gain insight for an up and coming shoot with a motorcycle as a prop.

My preference is to communicate with "Friend" and therefore most likely make a "Friend" request prior to reaching out.  I realize that many models probably have so many friend requests, they really need a way to filter through the noise, but for the time being, messaging as a friend is the most likely way to start a conversation between us.

*** Dancers, I'm always looking for dancers.  Those that can do pointe and leaps along with moves from jazz.  Although, with the right location and outfit, throw tap in there also.  The three classics, being Tap, Ballet, and Jazz.
