I was 12 years old when my uncle gave me a Canon F1 and access to his darkroom.    Unfortunately, I lost touch with photography when I went to college.  My desire mushroomed once again in my early 30's after being exposed to the fabulous work of Tony Ward. 

Why do I do it?  Sometimes, it is an outlet for my own struggles or a story I want to tell.  Often, I like to photograph friends or acquaintances as a way to make them feel beautiful and happy again.  It isn't a job or a hobby.  It is more like a passion or a need.
