I have been a professional photographer since 2000, having spent 4 of those years in Kenya and am now based in Cape Town. 
While reportage has previously been my main focus, including work for Reuters, NY Times, Observer and many NGO's, fashion has in the past year especially, become an important part of my professional work. 

I am often asked why, given the fact that I enjoy a decent career in photojournalism, do I like doing fashion (often in a rather patronising manner!).  To that I always (calmly!) retort that I enjoy fashion work to the fullest... the control I get which is often lacking and a source of frustration in my reportage work... the styling, the make-up, the couture, the locations... If journalism is a statement on what is going on socially and politically, then all you have to do is pick up a History of Vogue book to realise that fashion provides an equally important commentary on the essential culture and tastes of any given period. 
Photography - in all its forms is what I enjoy and not just dealing with serious issues and hot spots and conflict zones....

I am having increasing success in fashion and my work is constantly evolving and improving and has come light years from where it was not just a year ago... may it last for many years to come...!
