Raymond Hong was born into a family of photographers. His father, David Hong began his professional career in photography in the 1950s; David's career spanned from Asia to the United States and today he continues to shoot with passion but as a hobby.

Raymond grew up with his father's influence and began his pursuit of photography at the University of Photography in Dusseldorf (Germany) in 1978 and graduated with honors in 1981. At that time, Raymond was the first Asian to graduate from the University. For the next five years he was the lead photographer with a firm in Germany.

From the beginning, Raymond knew that his passion was in the beauty and uniqueness of the individual. He has since placed his focus on weddings and portraits specifically. In 1991 Raymond came to the U.S. to join his father in the Photography business that he started. As it turned out, Raymond and his father were extremely complementary so in the same year that Raymond came and started his own studio, also in San Francisco. It was less than half a block from his Dad's studio.

Raymond's father has since retired from professional photography. Today he continues to be Raymond's mentor. The hobby takes them too many different parts of the world where together they capture images of nature and people.
