About Me

What is it about pencil on paper that is so inherently beautiful?  "Do you paint," I am often asked.  I do, I enjoy it, I enjoy working with color.  When drawing, there is this simplicity, this immediacy that you just can't help but feel captivated.  With me, that is what is so compelling about drawing.

Your skin is translucent.  If you hold your hand up to a light, you can see toward the edges where your skin will start to glow.  Just like a sparkling diamond, some light bounces off the surface of your skin, while some penetrates that first layer and reflects back out off the second layer of skin.  Still, some light makes it through the second layer to be reflected off the next layer underneath.  You do, truly, glow from the inside.

You know that feeling of incredible attraction you feel when you look upon someone you find beautiful?  You know that glow, that inner beauty you feel drawing you towards this person?  Me, I think that is when you are truly in the moment and you truly focus in on this beauty that is right in front of you.  You suddenly become aware of that sparkle, that glow, all of that warmth that was there all along that you had not allowed yourself to notice until now.

For me, that's the something about pencil on paper.  You can capture that glow, that inner beauty, and in turn, all those amazing feelings you felt in the moment.  Who knew, that something you used as a child, could be the source of something that beautifully captivating?
