In this adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s ‘The happy Prince’ I performed a piece of ‘community theatre’ which involved members of the Balmoral day care centre in Watford who had learning disabilities. My role in this performance was workshop Leader, which involved working with adults with learning difficulties, devising and hosting workshops to help build the confidence and develop performance skills for the production. I also managed the publicity of the event, with two articles in the Watford Observer. Can’t Stand up for falling down dir: Winslade, J. A piece of youth theatre, in particular theatre-in-education, presented to young adults to explore and demonstrate the difficulties faced by people with disabilities. I took part in one performance and also devised an informative and original program with the teenagers, which was received extremely well from them. Cheeky Monkey’s Drama Workshops Working alongside another actor, we put together a touring company to provide a series of drama workshops for age 5-6 year olds, after recognising the lack of drama activities available to this particular age group. After researching and devising a program of games and drama activities, using music and props to introduce drama to children, we toured all local primary schools in the Hertfordshire area and had a fantastic response!
