About Me

Since the early 80's, photographer Chas aka Carlito has lived and documented the struggle of urban families, coping with the obstacles of poverty, the influences of Hip Hop culture, urban drug culture, and the separation anxiety associated with Children and Families who have experienced the U.S. Foster Care System . Inspired the works of Claude Brown, Gordon Parks, Assata Shakur, Dorothy Roberts, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Charles “Teenie" Harris, to name a few, Carlito aimed for a career in the Arts. Photography became that career because it gave Carlito that freedom to capture the world as he sees it with out losing the honorable stories of his subjects. Chas belives the City of Brooklyn, provides the accent to several of the greatest allegories ever whispered, and to illustrate them would be an honor. Walker's photographs wink at both the generations of yesterday and today, capturing the tales of everyday people on the move. Through the glass, Walker narrates their victories, moments of hope, periods of despair, accomplishment, determination, and evolution. The photographs represent a record of the labor behind the making of this Great American Quilt, and the intimate details that remain crucial to the legacy that keeps this thing together. The Eyes for Brooklyn Project, one of Carlito's more recent projects is designed to help individuals experience a moment of clarity within the urban experience, through a pictoral exploration of self. Zealously capturing the essence of a neighborhood from person to person, one day at a time. Contact Carlito@ 570.599.2989.
