Hello, I’m Sophia, I’m a fun loving, easy going, driven, voluptuous, beautiful plus size woman.  I love modeling, but even more so my goal is to change the norm of what a plus sized model should be “14-16” and that a size 24 is just as sexy as a 14. I’m open to anything, and I want to become one of the best.

Sophia Hardy resonates beauty on the inside as well as the outside. This full-figured queen has never been one to let the fact she was not “the average-sized woman” stand in the way of accomplishing great things, and it came as no surprise to those around her when she was selected as Miss Plus Tennessee 2008. Already an avid volunteer, Sophia is now using the Miss Plus Tennessee title as a platform to combat childhood obesity and encourage strong character among today’s youth.


The queen’s commitment to others was instilled in her as a child growing up in Memphis, TN. While assisting her father, Dr. F. Oliver Hardy, with his medical practice Sophia developed a nurturing spirit for children, the elderly and the ill. She began using her free time to assist clients and patients at Goodwill Homes, Graceland Nursing Home and Tuscaloosa Veterans Hospital. In 1999 her beloved mother died from an undiagnosed heart condition and in her honor she and her father established the Cora Lambert Hardy Memorial Foundation. They use the Foundation as a vehicle to sponsor health fairs around the city.


Sophia’s love for children guided her to her current occupation as an elementary teacher with Memphis City Schools and the Assistant Youth Director at Parkway Gardens Presbyterian Church. As a member of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus she sits on the planning committee for national and regional conferences, and because of her hard work and dedication she has been awarded their Glenda McCain Award for outstanding service. Sophia is also a member of the NAACP.


Sophia is a proud graduate of White Station High School. She went on to obtain a B.A. in English from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Education from Union University in Germantown, TN.


She hopes to use her reign as Miss Plus Size Tennessee to demonstrate that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, while helping others realize their full potential by encouraging them to work hard to accomplish their dreams.
