About Me

Joanna Peña aka Jojo The M.U.A.” is a New York based certified makeup artist. She had a great fascination for makeup since she was a little girl. Although, growing up she never thought having a career as a makeup artist was even possible. She was already an adult when she was unknowingly the makeup artist for her friends and family.  After years of hearing how talented she was at doing makeup, she decided to pursue it and discovered a whole new world filled with color, excitement, creativity and beauty! Looking to fulfill this new interest, she realized it was very expensive to pursue this career. She worked long demanding hours to save money to be able to accomplish the goal she set for herself.

Thankfully, she made it and chose to go to the Makeup Designory School in Soho (one of NY's and LA's most prestigious makeup design schools).  In 2008, she graduated from Makeup Designory School and started her own make up company called Audacious Makeup Artistry. Soon thereafter, Jojo became the in house make-up artist for NYC’s based clothing line, N8KD and the key makeup artist for photographer, Desi Adorn. Moreover, she has worked on numerous photo shoots for talented photographers Alonzo Boldin, Glamour Xposure, Fernando Colon, Max The Photographer, Gregory Shotti, Jason Rodriguez and Candita Semone. In addition, she has worked various fashion shows including, Clash of Couture’s 2008 and 2010 for NY Fashion Connect.

As Jojo continues to work diligently and tirelessly she keeps in mind her objectives, which epitomize her conviction and philosophy of makeup. Those objectives are to bring confidence to women of all ages by teaching them that everyone is beautiful and teaching them tricks of the trade on how to do one’s own makeup at a much affordable rate.

"Creativity is one of the most important and powerful gifts of the mind, it does not only exist in a 45min art class. Unfortunately, these are areas in which schools do not put much focus on. Our youth is always encouraged and pushed into being teachers, doctors and lawyers.  Most don’t even know what they want to do with their lives by the time they get to college, because they do not know that there are other exciting careers out there that involve expressing themselves through multiple channels of creativity."
