About Me

French photographer based in Paris, specialized in men portraits and nude
Most people are surprised to find that I came to photography just recently. Trained originally in audio-visual production followed by an apprenticeship, I worked for several years in marketing and communications for the insurance industry.
During a year-long sabbatical in New York in the late ‘90s, I decided it was time to pursue a lifelong dream – photographing men. So, starting in 2000 (new century, new life!), and without bothering with formal courses, I set out on my true path.
Unlike most photographers, I didn’t begin in black and white, spending long hours in my darkroom. Quite the contrary, for me it has been digital colour from the outset. Experimenting with computer-editing, I quickly realized that my creative process involves much more than capturing the camera images. Whether making simple adjustments of contrast or full alterations of reality, along with my camera, my computer has become an indispensable work tool. However, even though I strive to idealize my models and their bodies, under no circumstances do I modify their actual physiques. I want my work to exude sensuality, even to be erotic, but never to descend to vulgarity. My goal is to evoke dreams just as previous photographers did mine.
Some photographers that I admire (and even envy)
First and foremost, Pierre & Gilles. Also Howard Roffmann, Aaron Cobett, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, Andreas Bitesnisch, Jean-François Jonvelle, Raymond Depardon, Yann Arthus Bertrand, Olivier Toscani, David La Chapelle
