About Me

Hi, my name is Bill Rich. I moved to Chattanooga 14 years ago and opened Curved Light Studio with the aim of providing portrait, fashion and fine art figure photography services at realistically affordable prices.

In addition to over 40 years of photographing for business and pleasure I have 48 college credit hours in film (b&w and color darkroom) and digital capture. I have also had the good fortune to be able to attend classes at the Santa Fe Workshops with Joe McNally, National Geographic, Time, Sports Illustrated (photojournalism, location lighting), Carlin Tapp, a protegee of Ansel Adams (B&W digital capture & print) and Platon, NY fashion, political and celebrity photographer (creative portraiture).

I work extensively with new and experienced models to develop their portfolios with an eye towards an edgy more creative look. I view my work as a collaboration between the model and myself which requires a high level of communication and trust. I find that every person has their own style and it's my job to reflect upon and encourage them to bring out their best.

I work with new and established models on a TFP basis for portfolio development and of course on a fee paid basis for any commercial work. A separate compensation agreement is made for any works which are developed for sale as fine art prints.
