Nick Stern grew up in Hertfordshire (United Kingdom). He taught himself photography during his 20s. He now lives in Los Angeles.

In 1994 Stern started working as a freelance news photographer.

Stern’s first nationally published photograph was used on the front page of The Sun, Britain's best selling daily paper, with a circulation of over 3 million.

As a freelance photographer Stern has travelled throughout Europe, Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and the USA,  covering subjects including people trafficking, child prostitution, immigration, and civil unrest.

In 2007 Stern moved to California. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists and the National Press Photographers Association.

Stern brings  a news photographers eye to creative areas in the industry. Photographing images with the grittiness of real life...
