Artists Statement

I'm most inspired by color and the absence of it, shadows and light, contrast, drama, scandal, sexuality and emotion. More often than not it's a person or a behavior that inspires me. I love - no, love, to shoot people; and everything about them. I love interesting angles, unintentional poses, close ups, textures, tones and vantage points.

One of the things I love most about photography is how people react to it. Each photo is different and personal to everyone in its own way. Being able to make people feel things with your art is everything an artist can ask for.

Professionally speaking...

I ventured into photography and digital imaging professionally in 2001 when I started my first photo business, Eye Spy Imaging. In addition, from 2000 to 2008, I was the General Manager and Director of Online Operations for a New York City based professional photography sales and marketing portal; I continue to work there on a freelance basis as a photo editor, service developer and image researcher.

Over time I have added a number of photographic and related services including retouching, small business web site design, digital imaging, print sales, guided print work, graphic design, styling and sets, concept development.

I have studied photography, technology and digitals arts at a number of schools including the School of Visual Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York Academy of Art. I have had the privilege to work with numerous professional photographers throughout my career. I am currently pursuing a degree in Communication Design at FIT as well as pursuing education in Art and Illustration at the New York Academy of Art. I am a member of ASPP (American Society of Picture Professionals), NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) and the Freelancers Union.
