Amateur photographer here looking to get experience while hopefully helping others begin or expand portfolios.  I do this as a hobby and do it outside of my full time profession.

I actually first started when my daughter wanted to begin modeling so I took some pics of her.  She would either tell me what look or style she wanted to get out of a shoot and or she would find pics in a magazine or on the web and we would then try to imitate or shoot around the style or idea in the pic. 

At this point I have very basic equipment and most of my lighting I've purchased from a hardware store.  Some say this makes a person be more creative.  I think I've captured some good shots with my "untrained" eye and would like to explore the idea of this being a possible career later on. 

I do not have a studio and work mainly with location shoots or against a background.  I do not charge for my work nor can I pay any expenses.  I may be able to split any studio rental 50-50 with a model.
