I have always been fascinated with people and their behavior. I enjoy most social discourse and find image making, especially portraits, both challenging and engaging.

Aside from the pure mechanics of operating a camera, good photographs, at least good photographs of people, require an essential connection between the subject of the photograph and the photographer. This connection requires a kind of consciousness, or awareness, that at times is not easily reached between individuals.

People generally reveal as much of themselves as they feel comfortable sharing. I consider it a privilege when someone allows me to connect with, or "see" them through the lens.

I have a strong sense of the importance of our human community and believe that since we exist in this world together, we must all strive to love and care for each other in the short time we share. I would like to think that my portraits capture and illustrate this fleeting and fragile human connection. It is purely magical every time it happens.
