They say you got to have a lot of heart and a strong one at that to make it in this industry. Drey Skonie (Lewis Andrew Jackson Jr.) was born and raised in the original birthplace of the famous Motown sound, Detroit Michigan with all the heart necessary and wears the city’s influence with pride. Drey’s natural musical abilities were evident at the early age of 6. Surrounded by a musical church environment, his first love was the drum, but his hands couldn’t resist the ebony and ivory keys, and he couldn’t keep quiet about his love so he had to sing. As a fully fledged musical talent in the making Drey Skonie possesses nothing but passion for his craft. The world got a glimpse with his global introduction on the first season of MTV’s “Making the Band 4” and he continues to add shine to his first love, music.
Following his MTV appearance Drey Skonie continued the hard work joining his talents with Chicago’s own Kwiet Storm. Kwiet Storm was prolific and quickly developed a substantial local Chi-town following. K Storm managed to release numerous radio singles, music videos, and sold an estimated 8,000 copies of their self produced EP. The quartet’s dedication to the hustle was far beyond amazing, selling almost every copy of the CD out of the trunk of their car and tour van.

2010 brought with it changes and time to reflect. Drey appreciated the blood sweat and tears shared with his fellow group members but realized being a part of the group, wasn’t where his heart was at and struck out on his own. Through all of the years of trials and tribulations, Drey remains determined and passionate about his dream of singing on the world’s grand stage. Drey has remained versatile in his image and vocal abilities transcending and cutting across the limits of the R&B/Pop genre using a varied musical palette to create an aural masterpiece. His ability to play both piano and guitar allow him to further expand into nearly every significant genre of music.

As a solo artist Drey Skonie is expanding on his experiences and pushing himself to the limit using all the tools gained; his mind, heart, and soul to infuse the music he creates with emotion and impact.
