I'm pretty new to photography. I went to Nossi college of art and photography for my associates degree in 06 and thats where I really learned the things I needed to really take a photograph not a picture any one can take a picture but photographs are brought to us by serious artists that learn, experiment, compose and continue to try new things and never stop and never give up. I am not real good with photo shop but I do my very best and never stop reading up on it or using the on line video's to learn the most I can about photoshop. I'm over 40 years old and my first career was great I went to school and became a nurse at 18 and worked over 20 good years doing many different nursing areas so I could avoid burn out even working different areas will not prevent burning out. I even spent five great and educational years in the US army which did help me practice nursing longer than the average nurse does. I had a wonderful time and helped so many people in my over 20 years but decided I really needed a drastic change so I had loved taking pictures and went to college for it at age 40. And I thought my pictures were good. Well, I learned very fast that there was so much more than I ever imagined to photography than point and shoot. Wow I had so much to learn. I realized early on I was better at nursing and nursing school was easy compared to photography school. Maybe because my brain learned better at 18 than at 40 or maybe nursing was my real calling. But I worked hard to learn and got better and the second year in school I entered my first competition in Clarksville Tennessee's River Fest and I got first place. I was so shocked and it wasn't amateur's either the competition was tuff there were so many great artists with great work and the Judge was a professor from Vanderdbuilt University and all I could think was wow. The following year I placed 3rd and honorable mention. My black and white dark room print was judged in the digital category and placed 3rd which blew my mind because when I took a real close look at the print it had 2 small chemical spots noticeable enough to see it wasn't a digital print. But oh well and the 1st place print that year had a very noticeable crop and paste line right down the girls back but my friends said remember most artist don't place every year due to the judges extreme diversity that year the judge was a curator of the Museum at a university in Kentucky Marshall University I believe. So I will continue to enter every year because my goal is to someday take best of show. And god willing I will. Never give up even if you were much better at your first career than you are at the next one you try. I'm pretty much gonna end up back in nursing because it is so much better money got to pay the student loans back. The amount of Photographers in this area is very high for size of area and need as well as what you must charge to just break even. Nursing pays! Artists mostly starve or make less and to become established takes many years and I'm spoiled by nursing pay and refuse to work for less than I made when I was at my first nursing job or starve as an artist... But you guys keep an eye out I'll be here and will try to compete and you don't want to get beat by a nurse. Ha ha if i bored you good. That is My own bio.
