BIO/ENTERTAINMENT RESUME: JESSALYN TAYLOR MARTIN
This is the Official Biography of J-TAYLOR (JESSALYN TAYLOR MARTIN); a young, vibrant and dynamic singer, songwriter and producer. Her energy and enthusiasm are endless and she accomplishes seemingly impossible projects while maintaining an overwhelming aura of grace and ease. She doesn’t just “handle” the responsibilities of motherhood and a non-stop music career; she excels at them. In her own word, “I wouldn’t trade my life for anything and I’ve never been down a road I wasn’t meant to be on, whether good or bad. Without a doubt though, my daughter is the best part of me; my life, my ambition and my inspiration all in one cute little package. She keeps me humble.” Jessalyn is 21 years old and grew up in Covington, Georgia. It was there as a child that she discovered her unrelenting passion for all aspects of music. Almost by the power of the universe she was immediately afforded multiple opportunities to shine musically in the Atlanta music scene, and she has been singing, writing and collaborating ever since. She performed in front of her first major audience at the age of four, without even having the benefit of any formal musical training. She has a tendency to throw herself into her work, developing new sounds and unique lyrics driven by passion, persistence and a wide array of life experiences; some ordinary, some extraordinary. Jessalyn’s current single entitled "OVER YOU" is nothing short of an expression of her soul. She wrote all of the lyrics herself in an amazingly short period of time. “I’m a binge writer,” Jessalyn said. “When I get a song in my head and it feels right I can’t move the pen fast enough on the paper.” In the age of laptops, tablets and electronic communication, Jessalyn still writes all of her lyrics by hand with a ballpoint pen and a notebook. She has opened for Travis Porter, Shawty Lo, and many others and her current track is a vocal collaboration with Atlanta’s widely-known "SHAWTY BOY" called "NEVER LET GO." Shawty is currently signed with the prestigious Universal/Executive Music Group. The talents complement one another seamlessly, operating in opposition and concordance, their dramatically different vocal styles forming a perfect balance when mixed together. They do have several things in common though; motivation, determination and nuclear charisma. While many young female performers “wait for their big break.” Jessalyn creates her own opportunities through innovation and a wide network of equally ambitious performers. Jessalyn stated, “You only fail when you quit. If you genuinely love what you do it comes through in every aspect of your music. The audience can sense your compassion and sincerity and they always want more. The money, the notoriety and the “scene” all fall flat after a while and that contributes to the downfall of many talented performers. They’re doing the greatest job in the world but they’re doing it for all the wrong reasons.” Jessalyn thrives on challenges and her current projects keep her in the studio nearly every minute she is not spending with her beautiful daughter. “I love this industry,” Jessalyn said with a radiant smile. I love the people, the business and even the long hours, but most of all I love the feedback from the audience. The fans MAKE everything worthwhile. Going to a club event and watching total strangers having the time of their lives to my music is the greatest thrill of all. I’m very fortunate to have the support of artists and industry professionals that I may have only met a short time ago. I bond quickly with people who love music as much as I do.” She is undoubtedly one of the most driven and spirited performers working in the music industry today. Jessalyn paces like a tiger when writing songs, eagerly anticipating her next moments on stage in front of a live audience. “When I’m performing, wherever the venue, I know that’s exactly where I’m supposed to be at that moment in time. When I’m not performing I feel like a soldier between battles,” she said laughingly, with a contagious smile and a devilish twinkle in her bright green eyes. Her lyrical and vocal abilities make her different from many other R&B/Pop singers. "I can sing to pretty much anything," Jessalyn said, “But whatever I sing, regardless of the genre or style, I want to be at my best and make sure that I inject myself into every last lyric, every last note. Like any artist/performer, Jessalyn is forced to deal with negative feedback, particularly with the proliferation of Twitter, Facebook and dozens of other Internet-based forums that allow anyone to post virtually anything, regardless of merit. “Some people are just unhappy, and the only thing that relieves their pain is tearing down someone else,” she said. “I use the “haters” for motivation. They are great examples of what not to do and how not to treat people. I wish them all the best of luck and hope that they too discover their own passion, something they can pour their energy into. Have I lead a perfect life? No way. But I don’t let my mistakes hold me back. Everyone learns as they mature in this business and I intend to work with all of my favorite artists and create some of the most memorable music ever heard.” Jessalyn believes that talent alone is not enough to make it in the music industry. “You’ve got to be determined and go after the dream every minute of every day, the moment you think that it’s all about you and not about the work, the dream is over. She laughingly said, “It’s DEFINITELY about the work, but maybe just a teeny tiny bit is about me.” You can contact her manager Vincent Discala @ [email protected] Jessalyns Twitter is @J_TAYLOR_MUSIC facebook.com/JTAYLORMUSIC http://www.jessalyntaylor.webs
