It was as a Cinema student in college, while taking a required Photography course that Don’s interest in Still Photography was awakened. After college Don’s first job in the Film/Photo industry was as Assistant Camera on the documentary film crew at Chicago PBS station – WTTW-TV. Shortly thereafter he became 1st Camera, shooting 16mm film with Éclair NPRs and Arris. After several years at WTTW-TV he went freelance shooting both 16 and 35mm commercials for UAL, Chevrolet/GM and others.

While working in the film world Don continued to follow one of his other passions – music, and soon found himself on a new career path. A short stint in Nashville as a Studio Engineer led to an opportunity in San Francisco as an Engineer/Mixer for Fantasy Records/Films where Don worked with numerous revered Jazz artists as well acting as music mixer on the Academy Award winning film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Jack Nicholson. Don went on to spend several years at CBS Records, and among his accomplishments was Mixer/Producer on the Tony Bennett/Bill Evans album Together Again. However, what has never left Don is his love of photography. The images here convey his desire to communicate movement and beauty.

Don is available for projects and private sessions, and currently has a photo book project on dance underway, which he hopes to deliver sometime in 2008.
