About Me

Aloha Model Mayhemers!

I've been shooting since high school days on black and white film, but turned to photography as a source of income in 2005 to pay for grad school at Univ of Hawaii.  I shoot canon, fully digital, and do my own post-production/printing.

I enjoy working with fun, down to earth people.  If you are in the Honolulu area and looking for someone to help build your portfolio just drop me a line.  Photo shoots should be fun, not a chore.

Currently accepting ideas for TFCD work.  Availability limited. Paid jobs will have priority.

Kind regards,
justin

“A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words. “  Ansel Adams

To capture life, even for just a moment is a beautiful experience.  I knew that photography would be my passion from the day I first walked into the cold dark developing room of my high school.  My photographs were treasures that delighted others and made me feel as if I were able to share something not able to be said in words.  The gravity of this art form is what originally drew me to it.

In medical school, many hours were spent studying and learning about the sciences.  However, it was though photography that I made a connection to my soul.  Studying diligently at the medical school by day and attending photography workshops at night made my life feel balanced.  As my comfort with the camera grew, I began taking on odd jobs.  At first, I photographed graduation parties and social events like a archivist would.  Later, I specialized on portraiture.  With the help of some local wedding photographers, I began to pursue the career of professional photographer.  I shot weddings, family pictures, modeling portfolios and Christmas cards.  If it involved people, I would be there.

I may never achieve the accomplishments to the great Ansel Adams, but my photograph give me  the ability to help people capture the most endearing moments in their lives.  It is through this simple motto that I operate my camera: In every moment, there is a time to celebrate.  The passion of living is in the eyes a person, it is on the smallest wrinkles of laughter, and it is the way the sunlight fall so perfectly on a smile. Captured in print and saved for all times, pictures celebrate life.
