Amateur photographer that refuses to go professional. Photography is my passion, and using it to earn a living would kill that passion. I have been into photography since 1981. I love a good sharp photo, and despise soft focus techniques.

Since photography is my avocation and not my vocation, money is seldom in the equation (in either direction) when I do a shoot. I will do TFCD shoots only.

I've been doing photoshoots with models for over a year now, and trying to figure out my niche. In the past couple of shoots, I did something that is helping crystallize that personal niche. I handed my models a weapon.

One thing I positively won't do, is the so-called "damsel in distress"/S&M/B&D type of shoot. It is one thing to have and to feed those types of fantasies. It is quite another to see those kinds of fantasies become realities. In my real job, I have to deal with that. As a result, every time I see "Damsels in Distress" photos, I immediately think of them as crime scene photos. But then, that's just me.

Rather, I'm partial to the sexy Warrioress archetype. Think Boris Vellejo paintings. After the first couple of Alien movies came out, I thought I was in love with Sigourney Weaver. That is, until I saw her on TV being interviewed. Weaver is nothing like the character she played in the Alien movies. That is when I realized I was in love with the character Ellen Ripley. Ripley took on the universe on her own terms.

Other movie examples of this Warrioress archetype are Sarah Connors (nothing sexier than a woman who can field strip, clean and use a CAR-15) in T2 and Valeria in Conan the Barbarian.

I am more than willing to do just about any other kind of photography (except S&M/B&D), but my niche is finding the Warrioress in every model I shoot.
