I’ve been fascinated with photography since I was a child, but film and processing were much too expensive to experiment with and I couldn’t see the results of my picture taking until days – sometimes even weeks later.

When I went to college at BGSU back in the 70′s, I took a photography class and spent a lot of time in the darkroom, developing rolls of black and white film I shot on an old Pentax slr, but the technology of the day still didn’t give me the immediate feedback and gratification I craved.

My first digital camera was a Sony Mavica which I got in 2002 and it changed my life. It only had a 3x zoom, and it used a little mini-CD to store the images which was extremely slow by today’s standards, but suddenly, film and processing costs were a thing of the past. I could finally shoot as many pictures as I wanted and see the results immediately. I started shooting hundreds of pictures every day of anything that caught my eye and I learned a little more with every image I captured. Today, I’m on my fourth digital camera: a Panasonic FZ200 which I absolutely love!
