About Me

I was born in Yolo County, California. I grew up having both of my parents, as well as three half-sisters, and a cousin we later adopted. My heritage is mostly European, consisting strongly of British, Irish, & German ancestry. I also have traces of Scandinavian, Spanish, Italian, Native American, & African descent.
I mainly grew up in Sacramento County, California. Though, I did spend a small part of my youth living in McCall, Idaho. McCall is a beautiful alpine resort town located on the southern shore of Payette Lake. I graduated from Vista Del Lago in 2015 and decided to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, to achieve a bachelor’s in biology. While attending, I added a minor to my original field of study to broaden my horizons into the field of communication studies.
My first job during my freshman year of university was working for Scheels, a nationwide sporting goods store. It’s similar to what you would imagine as a Cabelas or Bass Pro, but with a wider range of apparel, and an area where you can order customer furnishings for your home. I then worked for Ulta as a seasonal associate and at a small tanning salon chain, all three with commission salary atop hourly pay. On the side, while performing my 9-5 duties, I would also sit pets for local families going on vacation. I still do this using Rover and other sites.
Whilst gaining my degree, I made the decision to stop eating meat as a means to better my health. In high school, I had numerous self-confidence problems with the way I looked. I was overweight, I had acne on my face and back, I felt bloated after almost every meal, and was winded from a single flight of stairs. During this time I played a lot of guitar and also played a lot of video games to distract myself from the way I felt both mentally and physically.
All of these symptoms went away when I decided to stop eating animal products like meat and milk. If you are wondering how I decided this, it was purely from doing my own research. I used much of the same peer-reviewed scientific articles and publications that James Wilks did in his decision to go meatless. I was not born into a family that welcomed the idea of being vegetarian or vegan, hence my decision to do it in college as I then had the means to.
From the day that I decided to change my diet, I have not gone back. I am now at a healthy weight, acne-free, and much more confident knowing how many lives I spare just by being a knowledgeable consumer. Moving forward from this experience as a more aware consumer; I then changed my dog's food to one made mainly out of invasive wild boar, I stopped shopping at fast-fashion chains, I also then became exposed to recognizing fast furniture and just how ignorant people are to climate change. Luckily from the get-go, I picked the right major, fueling the fire of compassion and true understanding I have had within me since I was little. I felt I could see the world with eyes unclouded from advertising and false research as I could compute and analyze data and statistics on my own.
After gaining the confidence in my body that I had always wanted, I began to see myself differently. I began wearing clothes that actually fit my body, which made me feel confident and put together. People took notice. Swarms of compliments came into my comments and inboxes, some asking how I did it. I felt so good in my own skin I decided to model while going to college in a small town. In less than a year, I had gotten to know some of the biggest names in the area. I was offered the role of the main character in a film, I was offered multiple agents in LA, but decided to stay and focus on finishing my degree.
And that’s where I am now! My graduation date just passed and my excitement for opportunity grows with each passing day. After losing an entire THIRD of my body weight, 60lbs, I don’t handle the cold as well as I used to in my years when I had a bit more insulation. Though Reno has served me extremely well in my education, opening my mind, and driving my yearning for being a better person. I have yearned for a new view, new friends, & definitely some new food to try. Please give my website a visit at autumnpike.com for more photos and information about me.
