This is Mary (Marylarina is my artistic name) a Persian (Iranian) Fine Art model and Dancer. The exact tow fields which are extremely banned and prohibited in my country and in some cases artists might be sentenced to be prisoned.
For women of this country in compare to men, situation is a lot worse and may lead to sever punishments.

As a woman in a third world country, with extremist religious beliefs, where women are considered the second gender, I’ve been through a lot of difficulties!
As I mentioned, Dancing is forbidden in my country and women have to wear hijab here!
Imagine that I have been dancing for more than 15 years in these situations and with those strict restrictions!
I have struggled with many limitations for years!
Society Constraints, wrong thoughts of people around and pressures from family!
I have faced them; I have resisted against all of them!
Because I love dancing.
I love the power of dance when it shows inner feelings. Those deepest emotions! That sense of liberation, when you show your true self!

As a dancer model, and a woman who has gone through many sufferings, I have the power to express my feelings with every cell of my body. From hair strands to toes one by one!
I can narrate courage, love and hope only with my eyes!
I have the power to tell the story of suffering, limitation and sorrow only with the prominent veins of my hands.
I can express each of my messages and feelings with any part of my body.

I see these strength unique qualities in myself.
And I want you to know that I'm not proud of myself because of that!
I just believe in myself as it took more than 35 years for me to make it.
Being compared, humiliated, ridiculed and having a sense of remorse and guilt; makes people unable to believe in themselves.
If we want to find our way in this world, we have to believe that there is only one copy of us in this world.
It doesn’t mean that you are a perfect human being;
But it means you need to accept yourself with all your goodness and weaknesses and try to get better.


However With all troubles above, so many of women (even Men) in my country including me are passionately working in this field.

The other important shortage in this field is there is no college or formal academy for dance or modeling.
Considering all mentioned issues we were/are trying as hard as we can to improve our abilities and stay tuned with global improvements of those arts.
It is true that art of dancing and modeling(specially fine art modeling) in our country might not be as professional as other countries, though it is impossible to devalue the attempts of artists, and I personally believe that in some aspects, those activities are more admirable.


With all those problems and the social and political situation of the country which are getting worse, it is getting so impossible to me and my colleagues to remain active in the battlefield.
Limitations have gotten doubled, punishment have gotten more severed, and increasing disappointment appeared between many of artists.

I as an artist hold many issues in my Heart!
Think of my heart as a large container filled with liquids of varying amounts, densities, and colors. So it’s hard to explain what’s really is in my heart!
There are a lot of experiences, feelings, beliefs, dreams and responsibilities in my heart.
Which sometimes confuses me about life, love and hope

All pains and suffers and most importantly endless love through the work which embrace every single cell of our bodies, could be the material or subject of any performance.

Isn’t it the Art? Isn’t it the exact show of human’s soul in visual form?


I believe art is the ability to present all hidden senses and unspoken words of human’s soul which are impossible to express in any other way.



And I have a dream in mind…
To express the story of suffering people, women, children, men and disappointed artists of this country.
And I know now that there is no way but to yell those emotions from outside of the borders.
