Born and raised in the Central Valley of California, I demonstrated a knack for the arts by the time I was six-years-old. By the age of twelve I was studying painting and illustration at the Aldrich School of Art. It was only after finishing my time as an undergraduate studying art making, art theory, and art criticism in the Fine Art program at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) that I discovered an enthusiasm for photography. Though my professional career has focused on, among other things, print and web advertising, email, social media and content marketing, product and packaging design and development, and both brick and mortar and online retail merchandising, my lifelong vocation as an artist is not driven by booking clients sessions, creating content, and selling pictures in bundles.

I like producing candid images (even if staged), which means my portraiture work tends to look candid. I'm a big fan of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Gary Winogrand, Saul Leiter, and Dorothea Lange. I shoot and develop my own film, I produce my own prints at home in my studio, and I love both instant and digital photography.
