Hi, I'm Jake and I've been shooting since 2013 with a focus on portraiture and editorial work since 2017. Most of my work has been in video production. I work in the props department on TV shows & Movies filming around Vancouver, filming and editing wedding films, and producing short videos for whoever would hire me. Or just for fun with friends on a weekend! My props work put me on set with masterful cinematographers and I learned to light by watching those masters at work for the past 10 years.

Photography started as a hobby interest. Then friends began asking me to photograph weddings and that got me interested in photographing people. I started photographing my travels with a 50mm lens which forced me to get closer to my subjects and become comfortable asking strangers if I could photograph them. It was often fun and a great way to get to know new people and cultures and I enjoy that more than anything.

My style is heavily influenced by Annie Leibovitz - specifically the images in her book "American Music."
