Hello, my name is Kevin Oakden I am a wildlife conservation photographer. I am passionate about photography and the protection, conservation and education of nature. Time behind the camera gives me an opportunity to tell a story and bring personality to the wild.

My journey began when I was a child on a family trip to Yellowstone National Park. My Father had a Minolta film camera, not sure of the model today but I remember thinking how cool it was to be able to freeze a moment in time forever. To have, to hold, and to share with it the world. That following Christmas I got my very first camera and point and click Sony something or other. What camera it was didn’t matter, I took photos of everything the frozen Ohio trees, the dressed up artificial pine in the living room and Butterscotch the family cat.

Over the years I continued to fall in love with nature, wildlife and photography. My next “real” camera was purchased in an electronics store in Naha, Okinawa Japan, while serving my country as a United States Marine. With a Canon 60D in my hands an adventure was never far away, exploring the tropical Island I called home. It was during that time that I learned I can use photography to not only tell a story but create change for my deeply loved and cherished nature.

Dancing with a crash of rhino, drowning in the song of an elephant’s eye and playing hide and seek with the ever-curious giraffe. My trips for conservation across the globe for big mammals, has only deepened and broadened my love and passion for this craft. My images capture not only of the story of the animals but the personalities they possess. I realized that not only do I find myself lost here but it is my calling to tell their stories through my lens and share it with the world.
