"Award-winning photographer Eric Alan Pritchard has been showcased in National Geographic Adventure Magazine, by the United Nations at the World Expo, and Photo District News Magazine. Featuring the islands of Thailand, the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the rainforests of Costa Rica, the medieval streets of Italy, the giant Sequoias and Redwoods of California, Death Valley and the US desert, urban decay, the Pacific horizon, organic objects and luminous abstract nudes, Eric's work spans a wide variety of genres, and the globe."

I have recently acquired some very old vintage lenses, and am currently looking to shoot portraits, fashion, lifestyle and fine-art nudes in a very atmospheric and un-digital kind of way. Many people think the retro look of film is better than digital, but what film offers, digital can match and exceed, whereas the unique beauty that older cameras did provide came from the lenses with a less clinically perfect rendering of the subjects, and I think that's where the personality and magic of vintage or retro photography came from. I haven't shot vintage lenses on any client projects yet, because I want to have a compelling body of work to show the idea before presenting it. I'm here on ModelMayhem to find some interesting and unusual faces and personalities to showcase.

If you are a model interested in building your portfolio with some (hopefully) unique and beautiful work, I am open to shoot testing for free anywhere in the SF Bay Area and can come to you, or meet at a location of our mutual choosing. For portraits and nudes, you can just be the natural you. For fashion and lifestyle, I have a team of wardrobe stylists and other crew I can call on as needed if the project merits that level of production.

I have been a fine-art and commercial photographer for over 20 years. Unlike many photographers who become known for a single type of imagery, I have developed several distinct styles, each of which has evolved out of my deep affinity for various kinds of subject matter. My earliest creative influences were trips to museums and galleries. In addition to enjoying the art on display, I also hoped to learn directly from what inspired me, by trying to reverse-engineer the camera, lighting, and printing techniques used by the masters I admired. Although mostly self-taught, I am now fortunate to have experience with almost every part of the photographic world. I’ve gained a comprehensive level of technical competence with both traditional photographic processes and modern digital imaging through years of experience as an assistant, artist, photographer, studio manager, sales advisor, and technical support consultant. From assisting a fashion photographer in Milan to producing an ad campaign in Rome, from teaching basic photography at local camera stores to providing advanced tech support for world-renowned artists, from making gallery prints in a chemical darkroom to retouching digital images with Photoshop, from managing the daily needs of a working studio to hiking through miles of jungle to find just the right tree, from attending lectures by famous photographers to having my own gallery and museum shows, every kind of involvement I’ve had with the world of photography has contributed to making me the photographer I am today.
