Here is my bold statement and almost a mission: if you don't like how you look on the pictures - it's 100% your photographers fault. Most likely you never met a true photographer. I didn't. Not in-person, at least. I want to be that true photographer that you met and told others about.

I feel that my true calling are styles of renaissance, romanticism, and postmodern.

Renaissance emphasizes person above everything else. Renaissance is driven by the desire of man to recognize herself and her world. This is where you feel natural, feminine, and confident. Historically it was rebirth of survivors of the Black Death (plague). Being surrounded by so much death that they chose to spend the remainder of their life focused on living and not what come after (YOLO). Renaissance uses technical skills as means to communicate Humanist ideas.

Romanticism is about sort of "Counter-Enlightenment" meant instead to celebrate emotion and imagination. It counteracts industrial revolution and society's emphases on the masses over the individual. It necessitates a strong emotional response as opposed to fashion photography that exaggerates the surface over substance. Where the Renaissance is art imitating nature, mannerism (the style all fashion photography uses) is art imitating art.

Postmodern photography, which is so popular today (think "Instagram") is beyond reality and into subjective reality, an idea of reality. It elevates importance of something seemingly insignificant. This is where banal can be poetic, and more than that, banal a lot of times a language as through banality more meaning can be revealed. It's showing the beauty or significance of even the most cursory moments.

The reasons for joining MM is that I am opening (huge, 15' ceilings) Photo Studio inside of the MacArthur Mall, Norfolk, VA in June 2019 and was hoping to find models and aspiring models to help me build my portfolio.

I have been doing photography since I was 8 years old.
