Aloha I’m Stina!

I’m here to change the perception of modeling. Modeling is not my forte, modeling is not my goal however I know that through modeling I will be able to influence the conversation and standards of beauty, what beauty is and the prevailing myths therein. As someone who would be considered “disabled,” but who has never identified a such, I am looking to break the beauty mold in regards to conventional modeling and inclusivity or lack there of. I’m here to represent and take pride in my body as it is, regardless of whether or not it fits the ideals of “perfection” that prevail in the media and that are backed by superficial financial gain.

I am a raw and real model, I do not wear make up and I do not believe in editing or altering photos to increase their beautification and desireability. No blur effect for the appearance of porcelain skin, no photoshopping other peoples’ parts on my body to create a compilation of unattainable impossibility. Nah, not for me. Black and white photography is a whole other animal, I love me some swanky monochromatic frames! I only take photos I feel comfortable and confident showing my mom and dad, as I have strict standards regarding my conduct and integrity, my portfolio will be for social justice and art purposes: adult themed photo shoots aren’t for me personally even though I respect the models that feel otherwise. Safety and comfort are important to me as well and I am in search of a female photographer who can mentor and guide me as their subject and muse. Don’t be surprised if I have a friend or family member as part of my entourage to build trust, especially upon meeting for the first time.

Despite the seeming tone of severity of my pursuit, I’m an easy going individual who tries not to take things too personally or seriously. The beach is my religion. I just bought a flip phone to downgrade my smart phone. I’m that person and laughing about it! If I knew how to build a house, with all its intricacies, I’d follow in Thoreau’s footsteps and create a tropical beachfront version of Walden. Some of my favorite books are The Four Agreements, The Power of Now, The Sacred Power of Huna and The Aloha Spirit.
