About Me

I grew up in Los Angeles and received a Master in Fine Arts from the University of Santa Barbara in 2010. I work in several disciplines including drawing, sculpture and video, but my primary focus is in painting. I have shown my work in solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York and at multiple major art fairs. I have had my paintings reviewed and shown in the Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, Juxtapoz Magazine, Art Week LA and Art Pulse Magazine. I am also in the permanent collection of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the Westmost-Ridley Tree Museum of Art.

I make paintings about the human body. Why we look at it, what is seductive, beautiful and strange about it. My work plays with art history, sometimes referencing classical paintings, and sometimes referencing weird pop culture- like 1970's wall paper or the furniture someones grandma might have in their house. My paintings are meant to create a place where we can think about desire and where it comes from, what has influenced and shaped the way we see the world around us.

A bit about how I make these paintings-
I do not paint models from life. I take photographs of a model that I will later digitally manipulate, building a scene around them, sometimes editing in multiple figures. My paintings take several months to complete since they are so detailed... but when they are done they are beautiful, lovingly made pieces of art.

I work with both nude and clothed models. I am interested in photographing model's excited about being in a painting, and comfortable with the content of the work that I make. It's very important to me that the shoots feel collaborative, professional and comfortable for everyone involved.
