Steve Zmak captures the essence of California and the West through photography that speaks to the soul. Traversing beaches, deserts, mountains and valleys, Zmak takes viewers on a journey through some of the most breathtaking scenes of the western wilderness. Zmak’s photographs capture an ideal of California and the West, pristine and untouched by encroaching development. His pictures invite viewers to revel in the moment and make it their own.

Zmak’s work has been recognized by the Center for Photographic Art, Black & White magazine, International B&W Spider Awards, International Color Awards, COLOR magazine, Monovisions Awards, ND Awards, and Monterey Museum of Art. He is a frequent calendar artist for the California State Parks Foundation and Arts Council for Monterey County.

Zmak is a photo instructor, and has created and managed several youth photo camps for kids ages 10-18. He has lectured and been a featured speaker for the Center for Photographic Art, Cal State Monterey Bay, ImageMakers of Monterey, Photographers Rendezvous, and Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.
