About Me
Life, if one is paying attention, provides many opportunities for exploring the world, testing one's limits and deciding one's likes and dislikes. My own particular path began with an athletic youth, then moved to aesthetic pursuits before settling down to complete my formal education.
For a number of years, I was a professional dancer, retiring at the age of 30 as a member of the Boston Ballet Company. However, my first love...other than that little red-haired girl in kindergarten...was photography. I was fascinated by images in books and magazines and by my mother's collection of old film cameras. Despite my love of photography, I made few attempts at capturing images myself until I was in my mid-twenties when I jumped in with the intensity and enthusiasm shared by all those with a passion for their art. My experience as a dancer helped me become a well-known dance photographer in the United States. My continuing efforts to learn and to expand my capabilities led to a career as an advertising photographer with a studio in Dallas, Texas . As a working photographer I was (for two years) president of the Dallas Chapter of the American Society of Media Professionals (ASMP). Although my work has received a few awards, I have never entered a photo competition. Now photography is no more than a deeply fulfilling hobby. Digital photography, Photoshop and the World Wide Web have given me new tools and new venues for sharing my interest. After working in photography for about 20 years, I went back to school to get a graduate degree. Today I'm retired from my job at American Airlines, which allows me many opportunities for travel.
