Kloe Lee Studios” is my Commercial Freelance Photography Business. You’ll also find my work under my name Kloe Lee-Smith. I grew up in Melbourne, Australia not far from the beach. It has always been my favourite place to relax and unwind. I am currently known for my Women’s Surf Culture and Fashion photography.

My obsession with photography started when I was 9yrs young; mostly portraiture, sports and beach culture back then. Not much has changed in that regard. Growing up, I was also involved with a lot of sports and dance. I loved integrating the elements of music, graphic design and dance/choreography into my photography projects. I made “Behind the scenes” films for 3 years for Beau-Rock Ballet School and these were played as entertainment at their Concerts. Whilst in year 10, I made a film that got me work experience at “Chocolate Studios”, a Media/ Advertising company in South Melbourne. This cemented my desire to make photography a career because I also loved design and being outdoors. Initially I started a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Design at RMIT and this has influenced the way I view and capture people within their environment. The camera kept calling, so I later graduated with a Bachelor of Photography from PSC Melbourne. We studied Photo Journalism, Art and Commercial photography. My Commercial major allows me to utilise all 3 of those fields.

More recently I have been working as an Editor at Surf Chimp - Urbn Surf park in Tullamarine. Which has been an awesome opportunity to hone in on my surf photography and create relationships with like minded people. I occasionally went out and took photos myself of all the surfers and loved every moment. It’s something I wish to dive deeper into exploring with my photography in the future.

My past interests and study has led me to focus on the individual’s expressive joy of movement; whether that be Dance, Surfing, frolicking on the beach, Urban Fashion or capturing romantic moments between couples. This is my strength. Highlights so far, have been exhibiting my work at the Centre of Contemporary Photography (CCP), Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP), RAW Melbourne and being published. The popularity of Instagram has provided new opportunities to innovate as a skilled Social Media content creator. It drives my freelance career aspirations and enables collaborations with individuals, companies and other Artists.
