Biography of Sugar Wells
Sugar Wells. Well…does that ring a bell? Honorably, she is the child prodigy of two of Motown’s finest: Mary Wells and Curtis Womack. Introduced to the world as Sugar Wells Womack at the tender age of 5 alongside her mother Mary Wells on The Joan Rivers Show, she remembers her first taste of being in the spotlight. Inheriting a love of music, a creative soul, and an artistic spirit has been her destiny since birth. As a young girl, Wells innately developed a love for song and dance which ultimately led to her stellar performances in high school plays and musicals. In harmony with her love for music, Wells also used dance as a form of art and social interaction which inspired her to take professional and hip hop dance classes, and make cameos in hip hop music videos.
After receiving her Psychology degree from Los Angeles City College, Wells ventured out to Las Vegas where she began to pursue other passions that allowed her to express herself in the arts. Growing up in Los Angeles with both parents in the music industry was challenging, but eventually Wells was able to overcome those challenges by using her voice to contribute not only to the unique style of experimental R&B, but also as an advocate for people of color who have mental health issues. As a child, her mother was presented with in “The Pioneer Award” in 1989 from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation which has inspired her to build a dynasty called “The Mary Wells Foundation” in remembrance of her mother and the creative vision she instilled in her as a child.
Wells also has a huge passion for acting and modeling because she loves expressing herself in front of the camera. Wells has been known to captivate audiences as a runway model and at different fashion shoots that focus on swimwear, lingerie, and yoga, but is open to other stylish, innovative shoots such as body painting and glamour.
In addition to music, dance, modeling, and the arts, Wells has discovered a newfound passion that goes back to her roots in psychology, enabling her to explore the relationship that exists among neurofeedback, yoga, meditation, and counseling. Wells recently launched a yoga website: Sugarwellsyoga.com which products, features, and services dedicated to stimulating the mind, body, and soul.
