About Me

Fashion to me is a form of expression of one’s identity. It’s a journey for us to come into our own.

My passion for creating pieces starts with my own journey. Growing up multi-racial had been a struggle in finding where I belonged. I had taken on other’s perceptions of me to shape myself. I didn’t know who I was because I didn’t know where I stood in my racial make up. Through my travels, my perception of identity took on a whole new meaning. From my experiences, I began to understand that Identity was more about culture, morals and passion. I then realized how much I needed to get back to my roots. What once weighed on me, grew into an appreciation for where I came from, the privilege that came with it and understanding what’s important to me
.
My design process is similar to my background.

Designing clothes has always been a creative outlet for me as long as I could remember. Putting together collections gave me a chance to express my view of the world and my share my artistic statement. As I’ve grown into my craft, I’ve realized the impact I wanted to leave universally.

Unfortunately, the fashion industry doesn’t align with my aspiration. The way fashion is created today is made for immediate disposal. The industry has created the idea that an individual needs to keep up with trends in order to express themselves. Destroying one’s individuality, the welfare of communities and our planet.

My mission is to start from the beginning, before this profit driven industry started.

Rearranging traditional pattern making techniques by eliminating excess waste.

Using natural dyes from plants and avoiding toxic chemicals that would otherwise steep into our water supply.

Selecting natural fibers and opting for a more biodegradable fabric rather than the long lasting effects that come with synthetics.

A step towards sustainable, eco- friendly fashion is a step away from fast fashion pollution.

Everyone creates their own style, their own voice through a visual medium. Selecting a piece should have a bigger statement beyond visual appeal. By Indulging in a more conscious decision in what the elements can offer and our personal impact, we are getting back to our roots.
